Ottawa’s winter has been snowy and it’s getting snowier with a risk of flurries every day this week and 5 to 10 cm of white stuff Wednesday.

Flurries began early Tuesday and Environment Canada is predicting clouds, a 60 per cent chance of continued flurries, with winds becoming westerly at 20 km/h near noon and a high of -6 C.

The snow was just heavy enough to make things slipper during the morning commute.

Tuesday night, winds are expected to become light as the temperature dips to -16 C under increasingly cloudy skies.

The snow is forecast to begin Wednesday morning along with easterly winds at 20 km/h in the morning and a high of -9 C. There’s a 60 per cent chance that the snow will continue overnight as the mercury falls to -16 C.

Some people like the snow more than others.

For Thursday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a high of -7 C then a 40 per cent chance of flurries and a low of -19 C overnight.

Friday’s forecast is for a mix of sun and cloud and a 40 per cent chance of flurries with a high of -9 C and a low of -15 C.

For Saturday, expect a mix of sun and cloud, a high of -6 C and a low of -10 C. The 40 per cent chance of yet more snow overnight lingers into Sunday when the temperature is forecast to rise to – 4 C.

Rolf Campbell, who tweets as @YOW_Weather, noted that Sunday’s 16 cm of snow brought the capital’s total snowfall to 164.2 cm, which is 24.2 cm above average, although still within the range of normal.
