The bad news is it’s looking like off-and-on flurries for most of the weekend, leading to possible ice pellets and/or freezing rain on Sunday.

The good news, for most folks, is that it’s not a workday, so traffic shouldn’t be a problem.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement to say the capital should expect about two cm through this afternoon. The high is expected to be a balmy -4 C.

Snow is expected to continue through the night, with an addition two to four cm expected. The low should be -11 C.

As usual, travellers should know that snow and wind are much more severe on the Highway 401 stretch near Lake Ontario, with several slip-and-slide accidents reported.

If you have to travel, be careful.

Sunday is expected to bring more snow and/or ice pellets in the morning with a risk of freezing rain towards noon and into the afternoon, with gusty winds. Precipitation should total about five cm. The high should be about -5 C.

Sunday night should feature, you guessed it, more snow and a low in the -11 C range.

Monday should bring a mix of sun and cloud and a high of -4 C.
