Ottawa police have identified the homicide victim whose body was found Sunday in the City View district but have released few other details.
Police said Egal Daud, 30, had been shot. His body was found at about 10 a.m. in a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 32-50 Northview Rd., which is southeast of the intersection of Merivale and Baseline roads.
On Sunday afternoon officers, in two police SUVs sat parked alongside the white, snow-covered Honda Civic in which the body was found.
Yellow crime scene tape cordoned off a playgrounds and small wooded area adjacent the parking lot as plainclothes officers from the major crime unit went door to door through the neighbourhood.
It is Ottawa’s fifth homicide of 2018.
