A fast-moving low pressure system is headed over the Great Lakes Saturday night. And for the Ottawa region, that means freezing rain Sunday morning.
Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Sunday. The low pressure system will bring brief snow or ice pellets at about 4 a.m., changing to freezing rain at about 8 a.m. and lasting until about 1 p.m, followed by drizzle, which will taper off at about 4 p.m.
“Several hours of freezing rain are likely before it changes to patchy rain later in the day,” said Environment Canada in its advisory, adding that road may become slippery, but the initial snow and ice pellets should minimize ice glazing on bare surfaces.
The forecast calls for a high of 5 C on Sunday with a low of -3 C overnight.
Monday, expect a mix of sun and cloud with a high of 6 C and a low of -4 C. Tuesday will also bring a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 7C, with daytime temperatures above freezing for the rest of the week.
