Two clerks charged during a raid at an illegal pot shop on Montreal Road have pleaded guilty to drug trafficking.
Cody House and Marie Sepall were both working at Dr. Greenthumb dispensary on Montreal Road when police raided the establishment in October 2017.
At a court appearance Monday, they both pleaded guilty to one count of possessing marijuana for the purpose of trafficking. They will be sentenced on April 25.
That brings to nine the total number of Ottawa marijuana store clerks who have pleaded guilty to trafficking. About 44 people in Ottawa have been charged with drug trafficking since police began raiding dispensaries in November 2016. Most of the cases are making their way through the courts.
Of the seven who have previously pleaded guilty, none has received any jail time. Three of the “budtenders” received conditional discharges – which means no criminal conviction is registered – three received suspended sentences, and one was given an absolute discharge, according to court records.
