Ottawa Fire Services rescued the occupant of a car that had broken through the ice on the Ottawa River on Tuesday evening.
The initial tip came from a 911 call placed on the Quebec side of the river, across from Constance Bay, but Ottawa crews performed the rescue.
After making their way across the ice to the submerged vehicle, fire service crew members discovered a person in the water and transported the individual back to shore at Constance Bay for assessment by paramedics.
Ottawa Paramedics Services said the male, in his mid-70s, suffered “moderate to severe hypothermia”.
