An Ottawa woman is warning others after reporting she was kicked by a complete stranger – who then recorded her shock on his phone – as she walked on Rideau Street Tuesday.
Police confirmed they’re investigating a string of similar complaints and said further details would be released Thursday afternoon.
Stephanie McLeod said she was walking home from work when a man “made a quick U-turn” to follow her then “forcibly kicked” her in the thigh from behind. When she turned, he walked away “as if nothing happened, all while recording my reaction over his shoulder with his phone.”
She followed and took a picture of the man.
“I want to get this message out there not for attention but rather to warn everyone to be vigilant and if something like this has happened to you, please report it to the police,” McLeod said.
Const. Marc Soucy, a spokesman for the Ottawa police, said five reports were being investigated. He couldn’t immediately confirm whether charges had been laid but said he was seeking information from central district investigators.
