A Chelsea woman missing since Feb. 28 was found dead in a parking lot in the Hull sector on Friday.

Gatineau police report that Diane Lafontaine, 51, and her vehicle were found in an unidentified commercial lot in the evening, nine days after she went missing on the way to a Hull hospital.

Foul play is not suspected and the coroner’s office is now investigating.

The night she disappeared, her family expressed concern to police about her safety and whereabouts, as she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder. Police had a report of her vehicle, a Mazda 3, being driven down St. Joseph Boulevard on March 6, travelling south near the Alonzo-Wright Bridge, but were unable to confirm whether Lafontaine was at the wheel.

Lafontaine was the former president of the Outaouais Business and Professional Women’s Network.

Police declined further comment on the matter.
