The city police arson unit was called in Thursday morning after firefighters doused a blaze at an Orléans home that was already boarded up as unsafe after a January fire.
Fire crews were summoned to 2243 Pagé Road between Meadowglen Drive and Innes Road at 6:11 a.m. Neighbours spotted smoke and flames but were able to tell a 911 dispatcher that the house was unoccupied.

Firefighters didn’t enter the structure, which was weakened and deemed unsafe after the Jan. 28 fire, and focused on preventing the flames from spreading to nearby homes.
The fire was under control at 6:53 a.m. and losses stopped at 8:04 a.m.

The occupants of the home had been able to escape safely.

The correct address of the 2-Alarm fire is 2243 Page Road. Occupants have been accounted for and are safe. Portions of the ground floor have burnt through and defensive operations are underway. #ottnews #ottfire #ottcity pic.twitter.com/QAHGG9zQlf
