Patrol officers collared a suspect Tuesday in connection with a citywide string of robberies.
Staff-Sgt. Michael Haarbosch of the robbery and break-and-enter units took to Twitter to hail their work shutting down what he dubbed a “one man crime wave.”
It totaled four robberies in which the suspect claimed to be armed – although no weapon was seen – and two burglaries.
Some great work yesterday by Frontline officers brings a one man crime wave to an end. Multiple robberies and a B&E cleared. Release to come in a bit.

At about 3:15 p.m. on March 10, a man walked into a drug store at the west end of Rideau Street and, saying he had a knife, demanded money from a clerk. He fled with a small quantity of cash
The next day, the same thing happened at about 11:15 a.m. at a gas bar on Carling Avenue in the Britannia area, although this time the suspect claimed to have a gun and fled with cigarettes along with a small sum.
Then on Monday at about 10:40 a.m., a suspect walked into a bank on Montreal Road, “insinuated” that he was armed and fled with cash.
Finally, on Tuesday at about 5:15 p.m., a suspect walked into a Rideau Centre business, grabbed items off the shelves and walked out when he was confronted by an employee. He said he was armed with a knife and fled.
Patrol officers made an arrest at about 7 p.m. in Vanier.
Investigators from the break-and-enter unit also laid charges in two other incidents.
On Feb. 26, a man broke into mailboxes at an apartment building on Doane Street in the Britannia area and accessed tenants’ mail, police said. On March 9, a suspect entered the same building by breaking a window then fled when confronted by building staff in a vacant unit.
Yassin Farah, 34, is charged with four counts of robbery, one count of theft, theft from mail, two counts of mischief under $5,000 and break and enter with intent.
He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
