Are we skipping spring this year?
Environment Canada’s forecast is for some decidedly April-like showers to wind down the week and a wintry weekend snowstorm.
It’s still days away, but the rival Weather Network is predicting Ottawa will need umbrellas for 10 to 15 mm of rain Thursday and 5 to 10 mm Friday.
Then, the broadcaster warns, it’s back to shoveling Saturday with 10 to 15 cm of snow. In their outlook, Sunday is even messier with about 10 cm of snow and 10 to 15 mm of rain. Capping off the fun is the prediction of another 10 to 15 mm of rain Monday.
For Wednesday, expect increasing cloudiness with southwest winds at 20 km/h gusting to 40 by afternoon and a high of 7 C.
A few showers or flurries are expected to start by evening as winds drop off and the low dips to 0 C.
On Thursday, Environment Canada predicts that the clouds will start rolling in by morning and then we can expect periods of rain and a high of 6 C. There’s a 60 per cent chance of overnight rain or flurries and a high of 1 C.
Friday’s forecast is for clouds, a 40 per cent chance of rain and a high of 7 C. Overnight, expect periods of snow and a low of -4 C.
Saturday’s outlook is periods of snow, a high of 0 C and a low of -3 C.
Sunday’s a toss up between whether it will be periods of snow or freezing rain with a high of 0 C and low of -1 C.
For Monday, expect periods of rain, a high of 4 C and a low of 0 C.
The GDPS has finally calmed down; It is now predicting 20cm of snow, 5cm of ice pellets and 25mm of rain this weekend. Still a large, complicated winter storm but not the snowmaggedon it was forecasting. #OttWx

Hello?
Is this Mother Nature's customer service hotline? I'd like to return this "spring". It's the wrong colour and doesn't suit my perky personality.
Whadya mean "no guarantees"?
I'm taking my patronage to another planet.#customerloyalty #ottweather #daffodils #tulips
