Every kind of nasty weather – snow, ice pellets and freezing rain – will team up in a “messy mix” this weekend and maybe even into Monday, Environment Canada warns in a special weather statement for Ottawa .
What the weather agency described Thursday as a complex weather system will hit much of the province with snow and ice pellets likely in Eastern Ontario on Friday night into Saturday with “significant” accumulations possible.
On Sunday, that’s expected to switch to freezing rain and several hours of it may hit Eastern Ontario.
It’s still uncertain how much precipitation will fall and where it will strike, Environment Canada said.
“However, there is a potential for this to be a high-impact storm,” the special weather statement said.
For Thursday, expect a mix of sun and cloud becoming cloudy near noon. Periods of snow or rain switch to rain by afternoon.
The high is 3 C and low 2 C.
Friday is mainly cloudy with periods of rain beginning in late morning and potentially turning into freezing rain by evening as the mercury drops from 6 C to -4 C.
Saturday’s forecast is for periods of snow, a high of 0 C and a low of -3 C.
Sunday’s outlook is for periods of snow or freezing rain, a high of 0 C and a low of -1 C.
On Monday, expect periods of rain switching to a 70 per cent chance of nighttime showers or flurries, a high of 2 C and a low of -1 C.
Tuesday’s forecast is for yet more clouds, a 40 per cent chance of rain or flurries, a high of 5 C and a low of -2 C.
We finally – finally! – have a forecast with a bit of sun and seasonal temperatures Wednesday with mix skies and 9 C predicted.
Not that you’d know it from this “spring” but normal temperatures for mid-April are highs of 11 C and lows of 1 C.

Sunscreen can’t block all the sun’s rays;
It should be used along with shade, clothing and hats.https://t.co/UUOKBOVgsl pic.twitter.com/BPZCBuvB4C
