Police report that they had to use a Taser on a man who refused to leave his Somerset Street West apartment, which was full of smoke from a small fire Friday morning.
The man – and several police officers – were treated for smoke inhalation in what police are treating as a mental-health call.
First responders were called at 4:29 a.m. to the first-floor apartment in a building near the intersection of Metcalfe Street.
Some cardboard was on fire but the unit was full of smoke but the man, who didn’t want to leave his home, had to be dragged to safety by police.
A fire investigator was on scene Friday morning.
