Five people were arrested and police seized four loaded handguns and a “large quantity of drugs” after a police chase Friday afternoon near Baseline Road and Fisher Avenue that led to searches at a number of Ottawa residences.

The arrests occurred at 1:15 p.m., after officers spotted a wanted man in a car with three others in the parking lot of a strip mall at Baseline and Fisher. The men tried to flee, smashing into several other vehicles in the process, before they jumped out of their car and tried to run. All four were arrested after a short foot chase.

Following the arrests, the police Guns and Gangs unit obtained search warrants for several homes in Ottawa. Those searches led police to seize four loaded handguns, 1.28 kilograms of cocaine, 45 grams of crack cocaine, 214 grams of marijuana and six fentanyl patches.

Police also seized five vehicles and “a large sum” of Canadian currency.

A total of 92 criminal charges were laid against the five men.

Haider Affat, 29, Grace M’Pemo, 22, Abdulaziz Al-Enzi, 31, Abraham Bihi, 28 and Keyonte Fletcher, 26, were all to appear in court on Saturday.
