The police are warning Ottawa commuters to avoid parts of downtown Friday afternoon as a result of a “demonstration.”
The Ottawa Police Service issued a statement advising motorists that “traffic disruptions are expected to occur” around Parliament Hill. Police also said there may be disruptions in areas near Major’s Hill Park.
While a police spokesperson would not comment on what the demonstration was, Friday happens to be “4-20,” a day when cannabis enthusiasts and activists are known to celebrate and protest on the Hill.
There are no planned road closures at this time, but OPS said drivers should find alternate routes, if possible.
