A colourful — and at times somewhat soggy — fusion of ping pong balls, beer and playing dress-up took place again on Saturday at the Aberdeen Pavilion.
The annual event, in its sixth year, set an attendance record last year, giving it the distinction of being the “world’s largest costume party beer pong tournament.”
The first ping pong ball was to be aimed at a cup shortly after 2 p.m. Saturday, with teams continuing to line up shots until about midnight.
Organizers expected about 1,500 to 2,000 on site this year after more than 1,200 registered in advance.
The tournament was acting as a CHEO fundraiser for the second year and was put on by Canadian Palooza Events Inc., a not-for-profit organization.
