The City of Gatineau partially lifted its boil-water advisory Sunday, but some residents were told to continue boiling their water before consuming it.
The city issued the preventive advisory affecting nearly 12,000 households on Friday after a water main break.
On Sunday afternoon, it updated the advisory, saying it now applies to a smaller area. Residents north of Maloney Boulevard West, west of Main Street, south of La Vérendrye West and east of Montée Paiement should continue boiling their water, said the city, but other residents previously affected could now drink their water.
The city advised those residents to let the water run for one minute, or to become cold, before using it. Any ice made during the advisory, it said, should be discarded.
The city directed people affected by water interruptions to the Centre Sportif de Gatineau at 850 Boulevard de La Gappe to pick up water for consumption and household use.
