When they were called to a domestic disturbance on Monday, Kingston police discovered about 30 marijuana plants and a child who was apparently being babysat in a grow-op.

A 22-year-old man is charged with unlawful production of a controlled substance.

Police were called to the west-end home at about 12:30 p.m. and spoke with the suspect and a woman. Neither would cooperate with police beyond saying there had been an argument.

But officers did learn that the woman was babysitting and went to check on the child. The youngster was in a playpen in the middle of an upstairs hallway. The doors to the home’s bedrooms were closed.

Concerned that there could be more children in the home, officers opened the doors and discovered two rooms contained marijuana plants.

The man was arrested and child welfare officials alerted.
