Hydro officials on both sides of the Ottawa River continued to preach patience Saturday as thousands of clients remained without power following Friday night’s massive windstorm.
At the height of the storm, between 40,000 and 50,000 clients were without power, Hydro Ottawa said.
By about 10 a.m., a few thousand remained powerless in Ottawa, predominantly in the Bells Corners and West Kanata/Stittsville areas.
There were pockets elsewhere throughout the city and, in many cases, there was corresponding damage to internet connections.
In some cases, crews were hampered by fallen trees.
Hydro Ottawa reported it was hoping to have repairs in place by Saturday afternoon.

Things were more serious in the Outaouais, where more than 20,000 customers were without power in pockets stretching up to Maniwaki.
Again, fallen trees and damaged roadways were slowing repair efforts.
Hydro-Québec estimated that most repairs in urban areas should be completed by Saturday night, but that fixes in the rural areas may take until Sunday or Monday.
