The city’s power utility reports that it’s worked widespread outages from Friday’s windstorm down to just a handful of customers by Sunday but folks outside the city weren’t so lucky.

As of Sunday morning, 67 Hydro Ottawa customers were without power in College Ward. A crew was on the scene to make repairs. Forestry crews and lineworkers have been working around-the-clock to restore power.

At the height of the storm, which featured gusts of more than 90 km/h that downed trees and peeled off roof shingles, between 40,000 and 50,000 clients were without power, the utility reported. Most were restored by late Saturday afternoon.

Hydro One, however, was still reporting multiple outages Sunday morning, including nearly 4,000 people west of Ottawa. Power was expected to be restored by 4 p.m. Monday at the latest.
