MP Gord Brown will be buried in his hometown of Gananoque Thursday with the flag of the Peace Tower lowered to half-mast in his memory.

The Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands Conservative died suddenly in his Hill office May 2. Tributes to the 57-year-old have been pouring in since. They range from election signs inscribed with “thank you” on lawns in his riding to GoFundMe donations for a second ice pad Brown wanted for Gananoque, a town of about 5,000 west of Brockville.

The funeral service will take place at the Lou Jeffries Recreation Centre in Gananoque at 11 a.m. Thursday, followed by a graveside service at Gananoque Cemetery.

A reception will be held at The Firehall Theatre from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations for the second ice pad rink, a fundraiser that had raised $24,000 of its $100,000 goal by Thursday morning.

Brown is survived by his wife, Claudine Courtois, and his two sons Chance and Tristan.

Thinking of our dear friend @gordbrown today. Amazing to see so many signs up honouring him across the riding, including right at home on Dibble St. W. and all over Prescott. Thanks to Christine Milks for this very fitting tribute idea. @TownofPrescott pic.twitter.com/fbzPyUoR68
