There is a local magazine called Auto Trader, specialising in advertising used cars. That is probably the best source. Local new papers, web, and chat groups are good places too.

Once find a suitable car, get a friend to help to take a look.

Buying a satisfactory used car is tricky sometimes. Find out lots of info is a good start. Anyway, don't rush. There are good deals out there.
