The City of Ottawa is hosting a special career showcase on Friday, June 8, from 9 am to 1 pm, at Ottawa City Hall’s Jean Pigott Place: “Connections: ottawa.ca/careers Showcase.”

Over the next five years, the City will see 30 per cent of its workforce either retiring or being eligible to retire. As a result, the City wants to connect with the community to promote its respectful, inclusive and collaborative work environment that brings people with diverse backgrounds and talents together to deliver important services and programs – making it a workplace of choice.

The event will feature information booths where visitors can come and meet representatives from all of the City’s departments to learn about the various career choices and areas of expertise, including:

  • Accounting / Finance
  • Communications
  • Community and Social Services
  • Planning and Engineering
  • Human Resources
  • Information Technology
  • LibraryOperations and Trades
  • Recreation and Culture
  • Transportation Services
  • Health
  • Emergency Services
  • Municipal Elections

In addition, people can register for and attend several helpful employment workshops, such as:

  • How to create an online profile and apply for positions on ottawa.ca/careers
  • Learn effective resume writing and interview skills
  • Hear from employees from diverse backgrounds as well as local community members.

Since available spaces at the workshops are limited, people are encouraged to reserve their spot at ottawa.ca/careers. Persons requiring disability related accommodations may indicate their needs at the time of the registration, or by calling 3-1-1 by Friday, June 1. After that date, staff will work with participants to provide possible supports.

People planning to attend are reminded that hard copy resumes will not be accepted at the event. However, people who are planning to attend the online profile development workshop can bring a listing of their experience on a USB stick to assist them in creating their ottawa.ca/careers profile.

Paid parking is available on site, but space is limited. As City Hall is also centrally located to transit services, visit octranspo.com to help plan and determine the best routes.

City employees bring their talents to the organization and can realize their potential while supporting the many services and programs that touch the daily lives of Ottawa residents. These are but a few examples:
