A cyclist in his 30s was struck by a vehicle and tossed into the middle of a Mechanicsville street Thursday morning but escaped serious injury, likely because wearing a helmet, paramedics said.
The call came in just before 8 a.m. from Scott Street near Garland Street.
The cyclist suffered injuries to his legs and hips but didn’t lose consciousness or suffer a head injury, paramedics said. He was treated by paramedics at the scene and released.
Ottawa police said they are investigating the collision.
Scott Street was closed to one lane in both direction but had reopened as of 9 a.m.
