Ottawa Police and intelligence agencies are investigating a series of online threats made to Carleton University over the weekend.
Police said on Monday the initial investigation revealed the threats are “not credible” and determined there is no threat to public safety.
The campus, located on Bronson Avenue, remains open, although many buildings were closed Monday due to the Victoria Day holiday.
Despite the assurance of safety, police reported that the department of university safety is working with due diligence and in co-operation with the police investigative services.
The public was reminded to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behaviour.
The ongoing investigation involves intelligence agencies and due to the borderless nature of social media, “international partners” have been notified of the investigation and are assisting.
