Weather: Couple of days of summery sunshine, but risk of a rainy weekend

The heat is on with sunshine and summery temperatures rising to 28 C by Friday but clouds and the risk of rain or thunderstorms are expected to return for the weekend.

For Wednesday, expect mainly-sunny skies, northwest winds at 20 km/h becoming light by evening, a high of 24 C and a low of 9 C.

Thursday is sunny and 26 C with a low of 9 C.

For Friday, the forecast is for mixed skies, a 30 per cent chance of showers and that tropical high of 28 C when a more typical temperature for late May is 21 C.

Saturday’s outlook is cloudy with a 60 per cent chance of showers or a thunderstorm, a high of 26 C and a low of 16 C.

The sun will make a showing Sunday with mixed skies along with the 60 per cent chance of showers or thunderstorms, high of 23 C and low of 15 C.

There’s a 30 per cent chance of showers Monday with mixed skies, a high of 22 C and low of 11 C.

A mix of sun and cloud and a high of 24 C is forecast for Tuesday.
