Newly created riding following the redistribution of boundries, Nepean is mostly comprised of the western portion of the former Nepean-Carleton riding. Popular Tory MPP Lisa MacLeod is running for re-election in Nepean. Liberals showed well here in the last federal election in 2015 (Chandra Arya won), but the forces in that election were very different.
Covering 173 sq. km, this riding is home to 119,115 people.
The candidates:
Liberal – Lovina Srivastava
Has lived in the riding since 2000. She earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree at the Molital Nehru National Institute of Technology in India. She is the founder of Emprove Service Inc, an Ottawa-based technology consultancy, and previously held senior managerial roles with Blackberry and the Department of National Defence. She was a founding director of the Ottawa Software Quality Association and was chair of the Software Process Improvement Network.
PC – Lisa MacLeod (Current MPP for Nepean-Carleton)
Lisa MacLeod was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in a 2006 by-election. Before that, she served as an advisor to Nepean legislators at all three levels of government, spent time as a political commentator on local TV and radio and worked in a management program with Sobeys Inc. She holds a BA in political science from St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia.
NDP – Zaff Ansari

None of the Above – Raphael Louis
He holds two honorary doctorate degrees in community development at Saint Peter and Saint Paul University for his lifetime humanitarian achievement, doctor of humanitarian services at the World Organization of Natural Medicine, and certificates in e-government and knowledge management in government from the United Nations.
