The Ottawa police east division crime unit is investigating after reports of half a dozen gunshots in the residential neighbourhood on Belcourt Boulevard in Orléans early Tuesday morning.
A bystander described hearing “six or seven shots” shortly before 2:30 a.m., and talked to police at the scene.
“Over the next hour, I saw dozens of vehicles, marked and unmarked, arrive,” including “tactical officers and canine units,” the bystander wrote in an email. The person, who made a 911 call from the scene, asked that this newspaper not use their name.
“I saw units deployed all along Belcourt,” they said. “Every intersection from Notre Dame to Beasejour and searching all cross streets.”
On Friday evening, police confirmed that they were investigating the shooting, and that there were no injuries reported. There have been no arrests and police have not announced that they have any suspects.
