Election Day dawned sunny and cool, with some showers in the forecast, but things are expected to warm up considerably in this hotly contested 42nd Ontario general election.

The polls opened at 9 a.m. No major lineups were reported in the early going, but that could change.

You have until 9 p.m. to vote.

Ran for the bus. Watched it drive away. Ran-walked to another bus stop. Just caught it. The things I do to vote today! #ONpoli #bus #otttraffic #GetOutTheVote #613 #yow #ottnews

They’re using brand-new technology that should speed things up this year (fingers crossed).

But an old school slipup hit the Ottawa Vanier riding Wednesday night with Liberal party officials announcing a computer error may have caused a glitch that sent the wrong polling stations to some voters.

Elections Ontario urges all voters to double-check their polling stations at https://www.elections.on.ca/en.html .

Meanwhile, further east, Elections Ontario advised some voters in Orléans riding that their polling station had moved from École Ibn Batouta to the Carlsbad Springs Community Centre at 6020 Piperville Rd.

No reason was given for the change.

I was an election observer last year in Kenya. These people in Mombassa, and millions more, began lining up to vote at 3 and 4 am and waited patiently for many hours to do so. A great example to us all. So no excuses. If you’re over 18 go vote. #OnElxn pic.twitter.com/RI2L4wAAuX

And here’s a reminder from Elections Ontario on social media use during an election.

Generally speaking your own observations, notes, comments are considered fine, but linking up with any organized campaign is frowned upon. Sometimes severely.

Check the rules here.
