It was a busy start to the week for Ottawa fire fighters — they spent Monday evening battling three blazes across the city, one of which resulted in several non-critical civilian injuries and a precautionary trip to hospital.

Just before 6:30 p.m., a neighbour called 911 to report smoke at 4586 Anderson Rd. in Carlsbad Springs.

“The caller was instrumental in assisting the people in the house to exit and stay out until firefighters arrived on scene,” Ottawa Fire Services said in a statement Monday night. “An aggressive interior attack was initiated on arrival and crews contained the fire to an upstairs bedroom.”

The fire was declared under control at 7 p.m. Firefighters remained on scene to assist homeowners. One occupant was taken to hospital as a precaution, OFS said. It also reported non-critical civilian injuries.

No cause or dollar loss was available at the time, and an Ottawa Fire investigator was on scene, OFS said.

Firefighters also responded to public reports of smoke at a row housing unit at 1995 St. Laurent Blvd. and an abandoned building at 2393 Longfields Dr., near Jockvale Road in Nepean. Both working fires were brought under control shortly after 9 p.m.

OFS said there were no reported injuries in either incident. The causes of the fires were not known nor were dollar losses available. An Ottawa Fire Investigator had not been requested in either case.

OFS reminded the public to call 911 to report an emergency as soon as it’s safe to do so, and to stay on the line until dispatchers advise otherwise.
