She got to dance with Ellen DeGeneres, and now Hélène Campbell is in line for another honour, though maybe it’s a little less splashy: Ottawa’s key to the city.
Campbell was diagnosed in 2011 with a disease that required her to undergo a double lung transplant, which she had in 2012.
Her health has been improving ever since, and she has become an energetic campaigner for awareness about organ and tissue donations.
She will receive to key to Ottawa in a ceremony at 7 p.m. Thursday, at Ottawa City Hall.
Campbell already has one other civic honour. In 2016, the city named a south-end street Hélène Campbell Road.
