No NHL team comes into Round 1 of the National Hockey League draft in Dallas under anything remotely close to the scrutiny the Senators are facing.
Captain Erik Karlsson is in play while the Senators deliberate over who to select with the fourth overall pick, a selection that still can be passed to the Colorado Avalanche to complete last season’s Matt Duchene trade.
“All I can tell you, and I can tell our fans, is we’re going to be greatly improved next year,” said Senators general manager Pierre Dorion, who also holds the 22nd selection in the first round
