Firefighters and paramedics worked Friday afternoon to free two people trapped in a five-vehicle crash on Strandherd Drive.
The crash occurred just after 3 p.m. at the intersection of Strandherd and Cresthaven Drive, and involved a tractor-trailer truck. One woman was taken to the trauma unit at The Ottawa Hospital Civic campus and a child was taken to CHEO. Their injuries were not considered life-threatening, police said.
The crash reduced Strandherd to one lane at Cresthaven and police were urging commuters to avoid the area, if possible. City crews were also dispatched to clear debris from the roadway.
