Paddlers continued to lean into their strokes on Day 3 of the 25th annual Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday at Mooney’s Bay Park.

The festival, which concludes on Sunday, features free concerts, with artists that included the Sam Roberts Band, Broken Social Scene and Hollerado. Matt Mays, Sunday’s scheduled headliner, was to hit the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Over the weekend, hundreds will compete in 40-foot fibreglass and wooden boats, which weigh 272 kilograms when empty and can weigh more 1,800 kg when filled with a standard team.

Teams were digging in on Saturday, driving toward spots in the finals, which take place Sunday. The final day of racing was scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m.
