Long a mainstay for kids and parents, Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo will shed its skin this fall with a move from its long-time Bank Street location to a facility in Sarsfield in Ottawa’s rural east end.
A “for rent” sign is up on its current location at 5305 Bank St., near Greely.
“It’s a very exciting time for us and we are super happy to be getting our own building,” according to an e-mail from the private zoo and animal rescue owned by Paul and Sheri Goulet.
The zoo is billed as offering over 150 animals on display including pythons, alligators, cobras, rattlesnakes, tarantulas, marmosets and birds of prey.
The Goulets opened the zoo in 2000.
Paul “Little Ray” Goulet holds a 12-year-old common boa constrictor at Little Ray’s Reptiles Adventure on Bank Street south of Ottawa Thursday July 19, 2001.
