What is your judgement based on? Brand or Price? Are you saying in all or general x3 is safer than cr-v when counting in proactive and passive safety features.
My wife's argument is the brand since it is BMW and cost more to own/build and cr-v is a Japanese car...the steel is lighter and cheaper. (She is in civil engineering trade; and knows the diff of steel) She has no evidence about the steel vendors info when make her arguments
My argument is that bmw and cr-v has different body design concepts; and they are listed in different categories of IIHS reports.
http://m.iihs.org/mobile/ratings/mobileratings/tsps. the extra money you paid for bmw is just for the luxury brand, fancy material and your esteem of being a bimmer, but not for the safety features....
Maybe the questions should be more specific about the 2018 BWM X3 30i standard vs 2018 CR-V Touring, which one is safer and why when the MSRP is on par?
