One suspect is facing charges and a second is sought in a violent home invasion in which police allege that two women used a knife and pepper spray on a victim after forcing their way into a west-end house.

The woman was seriously hurt.

It happened at about 3 p.m. Monday on Greenwood Avenue near the intersection of Churchill and Dovercourt avenues.

The suspects fled before police arrived along with paramedics, who took the woman to the hospital with injuries that were considered serious, but not life-threatening.

One suspect turned herself in Wednesday, police said.

Lainie McConnell, 23, is charged with aggravated assault, breaking and entering and committing aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and uttering death threats.

Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a second suspect.

She is white, 5-6 to 5-7 with long brown hair, crooked or possibly missing teeth and tattoos all over her arms and legs. She has a blue tattoo on one thigh and orange ink on the other. She was last seen wearing jean shorts and a black tank top.

Anyone with information is asked to call west criminal investigation at 613-236-1222, ext. 2666. Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or by downloading the Ottawa police app.
