Upcoming events and projects will have the following impacts on Ottawa traffic:

  • Canada Day
    • Downtown
      • Numerous streets downtown around Parliament Hill and in the ByWard Market near Majors Hill Park will be closed for Canada Day entertainment and fireworks beginning at 6 am July 1 until 2 am July 2. For a complete list of roads, bridges and pathways, including times, check the list of street closures available from the Government of Canada.
    • Kanata
      • Charlie Rogers Way will be closed between Ron Maslin Way and the Kanata Recreation Centre from 8 am June 29 until midnight July 3.
    • Petrie Island
      • Trim Road will be closed north of the North Side Service Road on July 1 from 6 am until midnight.
    • Barrhaven
      • Strandherd Drive will be closed during the Canada Day fireworks between McKenna Casey Drive and Borrisokane Road from 9:45 pm until approximately 10:30 pm.
  • Carling Avenue – Carling Avenue will have intermittent lane closures between Woodroffe Avenue and Churchill Avenue from Tuesday, July 3 until August 17. The lane closures are required to allow for the resurfacing of the roadway and other related work.

Signed detours will be in place to direct motorists around the closures. For more updates on the construction and road work activity across the city, or for information about traffic and travel planning, visit the City’s Traffic Report on ottawa.ca or follow the City’s traffic account on Twitter.
