儿童英文写作 (G4-G6)
WHY: Children’s early language stimuli transmitted to their brains through sensing pathways has a direct positive effect on their cognitive and social behavior development in later life
A sample lesson
Kids’ grammar: What is a verb?
Verbs are powerful words. They get things moving! Without the verb, nothing would be happening. That’s why every sentence must have a verb. For example,
The kangaroo hopped over the fence. Lauren feeds her turtle every day.
Hopped and feeds are verbs that provide the action.
Verbs can paint a colorful picture or make a story more interesting and exciting. It’s fun to think of unusual verbs to use. Here are some examples:
jump: leap, bounce …
laugh: chuckle, giggle …
Ex.: Try to think of more colorful verbs for each of these words:
walk
eat
My fun with words (make your sentences as good as or better than the sentences given)
Aunt:A real aunt is a sister of your mother or father. Aunts are nice to have. They give presents on your birthday, and they seldom scold you.
Active: Somebody who is busy and moving is active. A cat running away from a dog is active. A father snoring on a couch is not active.
Uncle: A brother of your father or mother is your uncle. Whether you like it or not, you can’t choose your uncles. They are just there. If you are really lucky, you have an uncle who owns an ice cream shop where you enjoy it, perhaps, for free.
Nouns and verbs:
He thought it was time to present the present..
They were too close to the door to close it.
The Two-Letter Word UP: We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP!
Why do we wake UP?
When it threatens to rain, we say it is clouding UP.
When the sun comes out we say it is clearing UP.
When it rains, it wets the earth and often messes things UP.
When it doesn't rain for awhile, things dry UP.
One could go on and on, but I'll wrap it UP, for now my time is UP, so it is time to..
Short stories ( creat your own story with the similar moral. The goose that laid the golden eggs: A man and his wife had the good fortune to possess a Goose which laid a golden egg every day. Lucky though they were, they soon began to think they were not getting rich fast enough …
Great questions
a)Why do you wake up? It’s the weekend and you don’t need to get up early. So why do you wake up on a sleep-in Saturday the same time you wake up on school days? Your internal “alarm clock” tells you it’s time to wake up. But what sets your “alarm clock”
b) Give sweet reasons
Consequence Reason
I had to walk home.
She decided not to buy the toy.
c) Silly superstitions: What will happen if:
You see a black cat?
You walk under a ladder?
d) Prove or explain it - Most people think that:
Space research is a waste of money.
Words for writing a) Beautiful: A beautiful person (e.g., My Beautiful Mom) elegant/glamorous/sharp/well-dressed/attractive/charming; b) Read this story opening to see how you might change beautiful to some other words—-A beautiful (pretty) princess lived in a beautiful (magnificent) castle with her beautiful (handsome) brother. One day a beautiful (graceful) fairy appeared… (now continue with your story)
