Summertime is no time to stay inside and hide. There is a lot going on in Ottawa this summer, including:

What’s Happening Ottawa provides the latest on theatre, music and outings for the entire family. Some shows sell out quickly, so be sure to look ahead at what’s happening in the coming weeks and get your tickets early. Here is a sampling of what’s happening this week.
Movie Night on the Great Lawn – Wonder
Great Lawn, Lansdowne
Wednesday, July 4
Based on the New York Times bestseller, Wonder tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters 5th grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket and settle in for a family friendly movie. In case of rain the movies are shown inside the Aberdeen Pavilion.
Summer Series: Oto-Wa Taiko
Shenkman Arts Centre
Thursday, July 5
Oto-Wa Taiko has been bringing the dynamic sights and sounds of Japanese drumming (taiko) to public and private audiences in Ottawa since 1989. Oto-Wa Taiko also conducts general interest taiko workshops for any one interested in experiencing taiko first-hand, and runs taiko training classes for potential new performers.

Pinhey’s Point Historic Site
Friday, July 6
Did you know Pinhey’s Point is an active archeological site? There is still much to survey, excavate, and discover. This interactive children’s program will introduce participants to archeology. They’ll explore actual archeological digs, learn about handling uncovered items, and get their hands dirty in a practice excavation pit.

20th Anniversary World Tour

Along with his new, hilarious observations of the Italian way of life, Joe asks the audience before the show to request, via social media , their favourite classic Joe Avati routines so no two shows are ever the same.

Complement your museum experience with a drop-in visit to the heritage garden. Costumed interpreters will provide context on the harsh realities of early Canada subsistence farming and how the Billings became some of the most successful farmers in the area.

With an electric atmosphere created by the loudest and proudest supporters, the match day experience at TD Place is a must for any sports fan.
