A 19-year-old London, Ont., man was facing drug charges Wednesday after Ottawa police, pursuing a complaint about cannabis smoking near the Greyhound bus station, said they discovered he was carrying marijuana, cocaine and a large sum of money.
According to police, members of the Direct Action Response Team were conducting proactive patrols when they received a complaint about three men smoking marijuana on a private property in the 500 block of Lyon Street.
Officers caught up to the men at the Greyhound station on Catherine Street, and said they discovered one of the men had marijuana, cocaine and more than $4,300 in his possession.
Mohammed Ahmed was charged with possession of a Schedule II substance and possession for the purposes of trafficking a Schedule I substance. Cannabis falls under the former category and cocaine the latter.
The two other men were released without charges, police said.
Ahmed was scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
