电脑不能上网了，请帮助，多谢！！

我的电脑用的是ROGERS CABLE 上网，昨天突然不好使了，不能上网了。已给ROGERS 打
过几次电话查找原因，它们说不是他们的原因。更换了新的网线，也不好使。他们说可能是操作系统的问题，让我
重装(我用的是WINDOWSXP)。但我现在没有。
他们说还有一种可能就是我的网卡坏了，要我换个新的。
各位大侠有何高见，请帮助，

好象不是,我的电脑装的是win2000,昨天还好的,今天就不行了,我换成xp上网好好的.

Try the follwoing:

1)Restart Cable modem
2)open PC
3)open a DOS prompt
4)type command ipconfig to see what ip shows up
5)use ipconfig /release and /renew
6) check ip again.

PS. Did you change your pc network configuration? Make sure using DHCP.

I did the step 1,2,3,4.(When I called Rogers, they asked my do this), but my PC did not recognize the IPCONFIG command,that is why they said something wrong with my system.
But I did not do the step 5), could you please tell me how to do that? what's the meaning of release and renew on your step 5)?
I did change my pc newwork configuration, how to check it? How to make sure I use DHCP?

I tried to use another computer, it works.
it seems something wrong with my prevoius computer, not Rogers or MODEM.
Probably Network Card is brocken.
Who know where can I find Computer Shop, I am going to test my Network card and buy a new one if it is brocken.

If I were you, I would try following 3 things:

1. Re-install the driver for network card or modem (depends on which one I am using), reboot;

2. If step 1 fails, re-install the piece of software Rogers provide, reboot;

3. If still no luck, re-install my XP or w2k. It is not so scary to do so, it only takes 1.5 hrs. The only concern is that I may loss my data if I were not smart enough by storing my data in the same partition as my OS and have no other spaces to move my data around.
