Summertime is no time to stay inside and hide. There is a lot going on in Ottawa this summer, including:

Play rhyming games, learn about different styles of poetry, write your own poems, and perform in a poetry concert. Jamaal is a spoken word artist, arts educator, residential counsellor for adults with disabilities, creative director of Origin Arts and Community Centre, and an advocate for youth and the arts through Youth Ottawa.



Tall Tales
Pinhey’s Point Historic Site
Friday, July 13

Gather around the campfire for an evening of tall tales. A live storyteller will delight you with exciting stories from history (with a few embellishments, of course) as you enjoy a form of entertainment that has been popular across the ages.



Stargazing
Pinhey’s Point Historic Site

Learn more about early navigation on the Ottawa River and explore the basics of astronomy with a guide from #popscope. This is a truly unique way to experience the natural heritage of Pinhey’s Point! Lantern-lit tours of the manor house are available on request.



Heritage Gardening
Billings Estate National Historic Site
Saturdays in July and August

Complement your museum experience with a drop-in visit to the heritage garden. Costumed interpreters will provide context on the harsh realities of early Canada subsistence farming and how the Billings became some of the most successful farmers in the area.



Classic Car Show
Cumberland Heritage Village Museum
Sunday, July 15

Exhibitors will be on site with cars from across the decades and vehicles from the City’s collection will be on exhibit. Also, do you have what it takes to challenge your friends and family to cardboard box derby race inspired by the Bennett Buggies and Doodlebugs of the depression era?

Come see the most exclusive and rare automobiles.This family friendly static display of exotic cars is free and open to anyone that shares the love for cars.



World Cup Soccer Final Watch Party
TD Place Stadium, Lansdowne

Watch the game up on the big screen. Be sure to bring your own chairs because we’ll be setting up right on the field. Plenty of kids’ activities and appearances by Ottawa Fury FC players. Plus, every ticket also comes with a complimentary ticket to the July 21 Fury FC match vs Nashville SC.

Here is a fun way to explore Lansdowne. Take a train! This miniature train takes visitors On a tour through the Lansdowne site. The train will run every day until July 15.
