What’s Happening Ottawa provides the latest on theatre, music and outings for the entire family. Some shows sell out quickly, so be sure to look ahead at what’s happening in the coming weeks and get your tickets early.

Here is a sampling of what’s happening this month:
Summer programming at City Hall extends into September, with one more Indigenous Walk on September 6 and Nordic Walk Workshop on September 11.
Enjoy Swan River by Skeleton Key Theatre at Petrie Island September 14 to 16. Piece together clues and help brother and sister duo Pen and Cob unravel the mystery of Swan River. Stepping into the world of the play, audiences will journey through the landscape experiencing theatre, music, visual imagery, and interactive installations. Presented by Shenkman Arts Centre Presents.
The CityFolk Festival celebrates its 25th year with performances on two stages at Lansdowne from September 12 to 16. This year’s lineup includes David Byrne, Hozier and the Decemberists, as well as Marvest, a celebration of local talent taking place in various free venues along Bank Street.
On Sunday, September 8, enjoy a free Ontario Breakfast on the Farm at the Foster Family Farm in North Gower. Learn what farming is all about in this family friendly event. Tickets are required at FarmFoodCareON.ca.
Then, on September 20, you can have Breakfast on the Rideau and support Operation Come Home in this annual fundraiser in the Horticulture Building at Lansdowne. Formerly homeless and at-risk youth will share their stories. Former NHL-er Theoren Fleury will be the guest speaker.
The Ottawa RedBlacks host the Montreal Alouettes on Friday August 31 and the Edmonton Eskimos Saturday, September 22 at TD Place Stadium.
The annual Panda Game, between cross-town rivals Carleton University Ravens and the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees takes place at TD Place Stadium on Saturday, September 29.
There is also one more session of Full moon Yoga on Monday, September 24 on the Great Lawn at Lansdowne.
Celebrate local farming history at Fairfields Heritage House on Saturday, September 15 at the Fairfields Heritage Harvest. Enjoy hands-on activities and learn about the importance of the harvest season. Big Sky Ranch will be on site with a petting zoo.
Music, kids and comedy shows are all happening at Meridian Theatres at Centrepointe in September. Some of the highlights:

- Gather your friends and family to Fall into Harvest at the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum September 1, 2, 8 and 9. Enjoy a corn boil, learn how grains are transformed into flour, and more. Vintage agricultural machinery will be hard at work harvesting crops daily. And don’t forget to try the corn maze.
- Horaceville Harvest takes place at Pinhey’s Point Historic Site every Saturday in September. Explore how settler families prepared their garden and food stores for the winter season. Each Saturday we will highlight a different historical food preservation method through themed demonstrations.
- Build your own Model Paddle Boats at Pinhey’s Point Historic Site, Sunday, September 2 . Explore how paddle boats were used to move people and cargo across long distances. Learn the basics behind how the paddles propelled the crafts forward.
- The Labour Day weekend offers your last chance to enjoy Tea on the Lawn or a Boxed Lunch at Billings Estate National Historic Site.
