Are you new to Ottawa? Are you studying away from home? Here are some helpful links to make the most of your time in your new city.

There is always so much to do in Ottawa. For more information, follow the City on Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.

Getting around

Stay healthy

Stay safe!

  • We want you to have a good time, but remember, we do have noise and other by-laws.
  • Do you have a pet? Don’t forget to have it registered.
  • New city? New apartment? Be fire safe and always have two ways out.
  • Moving out for the first time? Watch what you heat - cooking fires are the number 1 cause of fires in Ontario.
  • Whether you live in a home, an apartment or in residence on campus, make sure your dwelling has a working smoke alarm!
  • Stay safe with the right stuff. Pack an emergency kit with a radio, water, flashlight, batteries, snacks and important contact numbers.
  • Enjoy your first year safely – make preparing for emergencies part of your first year checklist.

Drink lots of water

Recycle

Stay active and cultured
