[问题] How long is Chinese visa valid ?

Hi, need help from peole in this forum who has applied for Chinese visa.

My situation is this:

1. Plan to come back to China for the New Year. (~January 20).
2. Will go back to Ottawa the coming Thanksgiving (November 27).

Since my town is 6 hours away from the nearest Chinese Consulte (Chicago), I am thinking about getting a Chinese visa while I am in Ottawa. The issue is, since there is a gap of around 50 days, will a normal Chinese visa be valid for so long ?

Really appreciate help from someone who has applied for Chinese visa. Can you let me know the valid length of the visa ? Thanks.

1) once you got the visiting visa, you have 3 month before you landing.
2) You probably be issued a 6 month visa, starting from the day you are landing
3) Sounds like you need to extend it once while you are in china.

Thanks. Your 1) seems to have answered my question. 3 months is good enough for me.

I only plan to stay in China for 2 weeks for the Chinese New Year.
