Alpha
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions that explore the basics of the Christian faith and allows anyone to explore life, faith and God in a friendly, open and informal environment. In each session, there’s food, a short talk, and discussion in small groups.
The Alpha Experience, held in the Parish Hall at St. Mary’s Church, is for those aged (almost) 18 and older. Every week’s session begins with a hot dinner at 6:30 pm, followed by a teaching film and a chance to ask questions, wrapping up by 9:00 pm. Parking is available in the parking lot at the rear of the building, and you can enter the church by the side door and follow the signs to the event.
Why Attend Alpha?
You might occasionally wonder about the purpose of life or why you are here on Earth. You might wonder about death and about Jesus. You might have questions that are important to you, or you might simply like to hear questions posed by others and to listen to the answers. Whatever your reason for coming, you will be warmly welcomed.
There are no tests at Alpha, and no prior knowledge of Christianity or religion is expected of you. There is no pressure or commitment, and there is no admission fee or any costs to you.
If you enjoy your visit to Alpha and would like to return for a second experience, you will normally be asked to help out in a serving role or invite a guest to join you. The only requirement to serve on Alpha is a willing heart, the capacity to listen to others’ needs, and the ability to commit to the weekly Alpha sessions.
