All OCDSB schools and administration sites are scheduled to re-open on Thursday, February 14th. This includes all extended day programs, third party on-site childcare services, community use permits, after school programs, night school and committee meetings. At this time, we believe that school buses will be operational, but as always, the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority (OSTA) will make that decision based on weather and road conditions in the morning. Any school based activities or special events scheduled for February 14th are expected to proceed as planned; individual schools will communicate with families directly if there are any changes.
Our sincere thanks to our Facilities staff who have been onsite at schools and administration buildings today ensuring that parking lots, sidewalks, and access ways are clear and safe for access. Due to the significant snow accumulation across the City, please be mindful of snow banks that could reduce sight lines and in some cases there may be reductions in parking spaces. Please exercise caution on sidewalks, at bus stops, and in school drop off zones.
The closure of schools and buildings was an unusual step, but undertaken in the interests of safety given the large accumulation of snow, timing of the storm and concerns about road safety.
Should any changes to these arrangements be required, we will notify in the usual manner.
