The City of Ottawa recognized recipients of the Ottawa Heritage Awards (formerly the Ottawa Architectural Conservation Awards) during a ceremony held this evening in the Alex Trebek Alumni Hall at the University of Ottawa.

These biennial awards recognize outstanding contributions to the restoration and conservation of Ottawa’s heritage properties. There are two types of awards, one for projects and one for community members or groups. Awards of Excellence and Awards of Merit recognize outstanding projects completed from 2016 to 2018 in six categories: restoration, adaptive re-use, addition, infill, government and other.

Quotes

“The beautifully preserved properties honoured by the Ottawa Heritage Awards encourage us to further invest in the preservation of our city’s architectural heritage. By recognizing these incredible achievements in restoration and conservation, we celebrate our history and acknowledge its impact on how we build our future.”

Mayor Jim Watson, City of Ottawa

“The Ottawa Heritage Awards celebrate the people and organizations whose talent, energy and work conserves our heritage architecture for present and future generations. Each building tells a story about who we are and where we have come from. These awards underline the need to actively and continuously protect and enhance Ottawa’s historic buildings and structures.”
