The deadline to file or withdraw a nomination for candidacy in the 2019 Rideau-Rockcliffe By-election is Friday, March 1 at 2 pm.
Potential candidates are advised to allow for processing and waiting time, as there is no opportunity to make corrections, provide additional information, or otherwise interrupt the process after 2 pm.
Nomination forms
The required forms must be filed by the candidate or by an agent acting on the candidate's behalf, in-person, at the City of Ottawa Elections Office or by appointment with the Clerk at the Office of the City Clerk and Solicitor during regular office hours.
Filing fees
Candidates must pay a filing fee at the time of filing (by cash, debit, credit card, certified cheque or money order) when they submit their nomination papers. The filing fee for a candidate running for City Councillor is $100.
Please note: The Office of the City Clerk and Solicitor can only accept payment in cash, by certified cheque or by money order.
Withdrawals
A withdrawal of nomination must be submitted in writing with the original signature of the candidate, and in-person by the candidate or their agent to either: the City of Ottawa Elections Office; or by appointment with the Clerk at the Office of the City Clerk and Solicitor.
Proof of identity of the candidate or, if applicable, their agent, must be presented when filing the withdrawal.
Please note: On Friday, March 1, 2019, nominations and withdrawals will only be accepted at the Elections Office (1221 B Cyrville Rd) from 9 am to 2 pm.
